Peanut Butter and banana sandwiches are wonderful - a staple lunch in my family since well before I was born, and I'm pushing 40! In fact I believe I'm a third generation PB&B sandwich eater.

Even yummier? Mix some cream cheese in with the peanut butter, drizzle a little honey and sprinkle a little cinnamon over the bananas. Yum!

Does anyone price match. I do this every week. I review each grocery, drug store, etc. ads and write a list of these items including the price (you want to make sure that the price is actually lower). Sometimes I even have coupons (double score!). I then go to my local Wal-Mart or Target and get the prices matched. Wal-Mart is much easier than Target at the price matching. Be sure and bring the store ads with you because sometimes you are asked to produce the advertisements. I save a lot of money this way.

You might want to direct your readers to the forums at Hot Coupon World if they are looking for deals and coupon match-ups for stores other than the ones at which you shop. They seem to be heavy on Kroger and Publix, but there are forums for stores in pretty much every state. They also feature drug store deals, too.

I have enjoyed reading about your adventures so far! As a poor college student, this blog is right up my alley, though I have a little more cooking experience. If you write a guide to couponing, I would be most interested in learning:

1) What you look for when you are deciding what to buy (how do you know what the moneymakers are, for example?)

-What am I looking for to understand if my grocery store will do the same deals that yours will? (for example, how do I find out of my local store, Giant Eagle, does money maker type deals? I did find they list their catalinas on their website, but they call them "checkout rewards")

Thanks for a great blog. I hope to be able to reduce my grocery budget, try new foods, and

Please keep this 'challenge' going, Jeffrey. I'm still trying to come up with a way to get the word out to others on the internet. If any other readers have ideas, please let me know. I'm not tech savvy, and don't know alot about links or how to link blogs with places like Facebook. But I truly believe there are so many people out there living on low incomes that they really need to follow your adventures and learn to eat healthily and cheaply on little money. As for me, I'm now without a vehicle (my car had to be sold due to a broken axle and ball joints & lack of funds for repairs) and it may be several months before I'm able to afford another one. I have to depend on a couple of people to take me to Walmart to buy groceries, since my apt. neighbors would never offer (we don't get along) and those visits are few & far between since public transport here leaves alot to be desired. Keep up the good work!!!!

@Rebecca

heh - no, I don't think so. I haven't gone shopping yet so I haven't changed the numbers, but i am definitely keeping the $1 a day average.

So I notice that your money left to spend budget has not been increased... Are you adding your final $40 to your running total, or are you going to attempt to do 100 days for $60?

I look forward to reading about your adventures each day - I have started using your couponing tactics, and have saved around $75 in the last week! I have to run to Walgreen's now - each kid has a new toothbrush, and the youngest wants a pair of those great socks!
