This is a great article. I am between a super couponer and just a normal couponer. I generally will save about $20-$30 per week. Mainly, I wanted the $60 I average a week on groceries to get me more than what I was getting. If you don't want to do super couponing, just remember this tip: On buy one get one free deals at your grocery store, you can use a coupon on each item, even though you are getting one free. So if Kellogs cereal is BOGO and you have 2 $1 off 1 box coupons, you can use them both to save a lot! I mainly hit the BOGO deals at 2 grocery store chains in town, pair my coupons with the flyers and plan my meals around what I have gotten. Sometimes on a good BOGO week, you can plan a week's worth of meals or more just on what you got. And of course I do thrown in other random things I need, but try not to get too many things that I don't have coupons for.

Super Couponing is deffinitely the hard way. There are easier ways to save money, use coupons, and not have to visit 5 stores to do it. Saving 90% on your grocery bill takes time, saving 50% is really fairly easy. You can still get freebies and awesome deals without dedicating 10 hours a week to the coupon !

This is a really nice article. I also sometimes feel like I'm not couponing "right" because I don't do the crazy deals. I just don't have the time or the inclination to buy 7 bottles of barbecue sauce so I can get something else free. Instead I use coupons to save 50 cents or a dollar on things I buy anyway. It at least defrays the cost of my takeout coffee. :)

Thank you for that. I am not a couponer. I use them now and then, never really finding the big deal. I do most of my shopping at WINCO, which prices are generally 6% or more less than most grocery stores. Only recently have they accepted internet coupons. So I use some, only on things I buy on a regular basis. So my couponing is 1 or 2 a week maybe. I do not want to go to 3 or 4 different stores. My grocery shopping is done on my lunch HOUR, so I make it count. My time is worth something. Its nice to not feel like the ugly stepsister because I do not live to coupon!

Thanks for the article, Jennifer. I felt discouraged about using coupons. I never routinely buy the items that have coupons. They are usually new items that manufacturers are trying to promote, like processed foods, which I don't eat. Sometimes saving 35 cents with a coupon isn't a big enough incentive for me to buy something.
