this is amazing. i found this linked from lifehacker, and i've never really stopped and considered coupons before. it's basically blowing my mind. and the fact that you are donating tons of food to the food bank is just incredible.

It is really nice that you are shopping smart and donating extra food to the food pantry. I wish everyone shopped the way you do and the way I try to. I have donated huge boxes of stuff to the food pantry last year and in the past. Then I got into having garage sales with my extra stuff which is helping me get a house as I am able to save extra money. ButI do still donate odds and ends here and there to the pantry as well. It is typical for me to walk into a store, purchase $80 to $100 worth of groceries and pay $10 or less. Not pennies like you are doing but most people would still agree that is pretty good. I don't get the variety you do though, I buy multiples of a few things. I also have a stockpile of most things we use though so if I wanted I could get by on $30 to $50 a month too. We have 2 in my house.

Once again, sorry to comment late but you could have made a great pasta dish with all those things you had, plus a pack of cream cheese. By just cooking the pasta and mixing it with the sauce, finely chopping the broccoli and tomato instead of eating them on the side, then mixing the whole lot together with cream cheese and baking it for 20 minutes you could have had a nice pasta bake.

I'm really impressed with the amount and variety of food you've managed to obtain this way, and I hope you've learned a bit about cooking too as I'm sure your enjoyment could have been greatly improved by understanding nutrition and cooking a little better.

I did the Corn Flakes deal at Safeway today and have 8 boxes to donate. We don't eat Corn Flakes, but I'm happy to do the deal for the free $$ and food to donate. :)

I wanted to suggest a recipe. My grandma stuffs tomatoes with tuna salad and then broils it. It is very tasty! The tomato gets kind of caramely-sweet. It's especially good with sweet pickle relish. Maybe you can get a packet of relish or mayo in the deli department on your next shopping trip? Or is that against the rules?
