$2.00 coupon for Complete here http://www.completecomfort.ca/register.php making it a money maker PLUS 15% off your purchase here http://www.walgreens.com/topic/promotion/fbfriends.jsp?ec=fb_09142009 for even more savings.

Walgreen’s also has a 15% off coupon available on their Facebook page. Details here:
http://wildforwags.com/index.php/2010/08/02/friends-family-discount-is-here/

I bought one Complete Multi-Purpose Solution 12 oz, one Alive! Energy Multi-vitamins 50 ct., and one Crayola Crayons 24 pk. Total $18.99

Then used the 15% off coupon to bring the total to $16.15 (http://bit.ly/ckk5Je good until 8/4/10)

I then received $19 in register rewards (one $10, one $8, one $1) making it a $2.85 money maker!

You can print off multiples of the 15% off coupon and do this exact transaction multiple times. If you do it just four times, you make $11.40!

You can only get one of each of the register rewards coupons per transaction, meaning you can’t buy 4 multi-vitamins in one transaction and get 4 $10 coupons, you’d just get 1.

I purchase the Complete Multi-Purpose Solution on Tuesday, earning $8 in register awards. Today I returned to Walgreens to purchase a second bottle. First I was told that I couldn’t use my original $8 coupon because the Solution was on sale for $7.99, so I added on some toilet paper. Disappointingly, I did not earn an additional $8 in register awards. Was I suppose to earn $8 more in register awards or are they not generated when you pay with register awards? I am new to using coupons an would appreciated any help/insight into how the process works.

That is correct – at Walgreens, you can not “roll” the Register Rewards. If you use a Register Rewards from your last purchase on the same product, a new one will not come out.

@Shannon

You cannot ‘roll’ register rewards. If you use one as a payment, it will not print off the same register reward. You can do multiple transactions all with cash, and then save all the rewards and use them at once, though.

You could repeat your first transaction five times, have five $8 rewards tickets ($40), and five free bottles of solution.

Better yet, using five of the the $2 Complete coupons (http://www.completecomfort.ca/register.php), pay $6 and get $8 rewards on five transactions, and you would spend $30 and get $40 in register rewards, earning $10!

Thanks Jeffrey and Mark for your responses. I think its awesome how I could earn $10 using Mark’s method. However, the register rewards at Walgreens expire relatively quickly (I think mine was dated 8/16). What do you buy at Walgreens for $40? If I am understanding the process correctly, I can’t spend the money on other products that generate register rewards. Everything at Walgreens is so expensive and there is such a limited selection on things like groceries. I guess I am just wondering how to efficiently use register rewards at Walgreens before their expiration date.

The register rewards are good for 2 weeks, but I use mine the same day. I get the free stuff and money makers first, and then go back in to get groceries or whatever we need. Say we get $40 in rewards, we then use coupons combined with sales to get even more value. When we went last week, we did a couple transactions first to get the money makers, then went back in and got $100 worth of stuff, used coupons to bring the total down to about $70, then used $40 in rewards and paid $30.

You CAN use rewards on items that generate rewards, just not the SAME item that generated the SAME reward you’re using at the time. This is just to keep someone from “rolling” one promotion.

To make the most of your rewards, get one of the walgreens in-store coupon books. Go through each item you could use and try to match it with a “manufacturer coupon.” You can use both a store coupon AND an manufacturer coupon on the same item, then pay with the rewards! One example I can remember last week was Raid bug spray. It was $5 I think, and there was a walgreens $2 coupon, and we also had a $2 manufacturer coupon from the Sunday paper, bringing it to $1 (and we use that stuff a lot!) You can also search for printable manufacturer coupons for each item online. Pretty much everything we bought except milk had coupons, but my wife keeps a huge coupon binder so its easier to go through in the store and match up sales with coupons (go here and go to “day 5″ to see what hers looks like http://thekrazycouponlady.com/beginners)

You can also match up coupons with items that have advertised register rewards to get things nearly free or as money-makers.

Thanks Mark! That helps a lot. I will have to go in there with a more solid plan next time.
