I went to Walgreens yesterday with my $1 off Pilot Pen coupon from the website and it would not ring up at the register. The cashier had to call over the store manager and she ended up voiding out the whole transaction and told the casher, “Just charge her a penny for it.” I wonder if it wouldn’t go through because the coupon was for more than the price of the pen.

That seems to be the way Walgreens deals with coupons that won’t ring. I had a $5 off $25 coupon that wouldn’t work, so they voided the $5.49 pool lounge thingy I was buying and rang it up for $.49.

@Jessica,

Yes, that is the reason it wouldn’t go through. What the cashier should do is adjust the coupon to $0.99 on the cash register making it free, but every store will vary how they handle it.
