How To Grill Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables can be great grilling accompaniments to the meat you serve. Here are some tips:

1. Grilling actually makes fruits and vegetables sweeter because it caramelizes their natural sugars which enhances their sweetness

2. For vegetables, choose those that gave a good grilling shape when sliced. Eggplant, onions, zucchini, yellow squash and bell peppers are good examples. Corn, asparagus and mushrooms can be grilled whole.

3. For a bit of a surprise, try grilling lettuces. They hold up well over the heat.

4. Grilling fruit is an excellent way to create healthy desserts. Due to the amount of sugar they contain, the heat caramelizing this sugar makes them extra sweet. Pitted fruits such as peaches and nectarines grill well due to their strong exterior. Pineapple slices, apples and bananas also grill well.

Great ideas! Corn is my favorite, but it took me a while before I could get it right. Found some good tips in The Backyard community: https://backyard.netshops.com/#l=topic&i=495
