Most of us know Instacart for grocery delivery, but the company is expanding its services. While you’ve been able to order alcoholic beverages through Instacart before (in some states), an all-new app will be focused on booze sales entirely. So, what is the new Fizz app all about? Here’s everything that has been revealed so far.

Instacart has recently unveiled Fizz, a new app designed to simplify group ordering of drinks and snacks for parties, particularly targeting Gen Z users. The app allows party hosts to create a shared cart that guests can add to and pay for individually, with a flat $5 delivery fee. Fizz integrates with the event-planning platform Partiful, enabling seamless coordination for social gatherings.
Users can access Fizz via web or mobile without needing to download the app, requiring only a phone number to participate. The app leverages Instacart’s existing delivery network to fulfill orders, selecting the optimal store based on delivery location.
The app’s services focus on things like beer, seltzer, non-alcoholic drinks, chips, dip, healthy snacks, or party supplies. Additionally, Fizz offers a loyalty program called “Snack Bucks,” rewarding users with discounts on future snack purchases when they order drinks.
Fizz Allows For Collaboration
What makes the Fizz app unique is that the host of a party can invite guests to collaborate on the cart. This allows everyone to choose what they want to bring to the gathering, and everyone can share the cost.
“It’s becoming more and more common when people gather that they share in contributing to what it takes to put together a party, but then they do this kind of bill-splitting thing,” Daniel Danker, Instacart’s chief product officer, said. “Afterwards, they open up Venmo, and they kind of divide up the cost. And while we think that that’s great, certainly better than a more manual way of doing it in the past, we actually think there’s an opportunity to just completely eliminate that step and make it even more effortless.”
Danker said that the idea behind Fizz is due to the evolution of the way people are getting together. Gen Z and Millennials tend to feel the need to share the financial burden of hosting a party or gathering. They also tend to be more considerate of everyone’s needs.
