Couponing’s one of the best things I have learned in my life. It has helped me budget, spend with purpose, and get quality products for less. With all the excitement that comes with it, nobody talks about the blunders or embarrassing mishaps. Coupon embarrassment is real, but here’s what you can do about it.

Shake It Off
We all make mistakes. It’s a natural part of life. But you don’t have to be brought down by those mistakes. Use them as an opportunity to grow and learn for the next time. I can’t tell you how many times I have messed up when couponing. There have been times where I’ve got in line but didn’t have the right coupons in hand, times when I have overpaid for my purchases, and times when I had to go back in the store to make exchanges because I didn’t do a deal correctly. From those experiences, I learned how to be a better couponer.
Be Prepared
Most of the mistakes we encounter when couponing come from not having enough time to prepare. When it comes to making a shopping trip, you have to make it as stress-free as possible. You do this by making sure that you have written down all of the products you need. This includes the sizes, product name, and even the price that it should be. I go the extra mile and write down the coupons I need by the deal and how much it should be after the coupon is applied. Be sure the correct coupons are clipped and easily accessible, and know it’s okay to make a mistake.
Not Everyone Is A Fan
Alongside your mishaps, you may encounter people who are not that thrilled about couponers. I say ignore anybody who has anything negative to say. Most people you encounter will want to learn more about what you do and how you do it. Anyone else is just background noise, and I wouldn’t give them the time of day.
As always, remember to be kind to yourself, learn from your mistakes, and coupon on!
